Project

The CO-GREEN project has just started its operations, on December 1st, 2022. Its objective consists in engaging local communities in the co-design and implementation of sustainable practices that incorporate the values of the European Green Deal. We, the citizens of the European Union, are increasingly aware of the challenges that climate change and the related environmental crises pose us, almost on a daily basis. The effects of air, water and land pollution, of draughts and floodings, of heat waves and polar cold, and of other environmental criticalities fill up the news and have become part of our regular conversations.

Are you and other people in your community willing to engage and take action to support your territory in developing and taking up sustainable, viable and replicable green measures?

To enhance such community-based perspective, the CO-GREEN action is launching an articulated set of local events, transnational exchanges and training opportunities that engage representatives of local authorities, NGOs, businesses, educational and cultural agencies, civil society organisations, and other players that are interested in green community development.

Thanks to the support of local “community activators”, participatory processes will be developed and strengthened in several communities in Poland, Italy, Greece and Croatia. Ambitiously, the CO-GREEN teams will pursue visions about growth and social innovation, referring to the ways in which the Planet (the environmental dimension), the People (the social domain), and Prosperity (the socio-economic angle) can interconnect and determine sustainable and effective governance models.

The participation of territorial communities and citizens’ active support are pillars of the Green Deal: take action now and join your local CO-GREEN team!

The project is promoted by Forum Terzo Settore together with the University of Rome Tor Vergata; the Nicolaus Copernicus University of Toruń – Faculty of Social Sciences and Philosophy, Institute of Sociology, CAL Association, Poland; Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences, University of Rijeka, Croatia; Euracademy (Greece); Municipality of Karditsa (Greece).

The project is funded by the European Commission.
